This Privacy Policy describes how indigo U (“the Platform,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use IndigoU.com.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Date of birth: Collected during age verification to determine content eligibility.
- Account information: If you create an account — email address, display name, and authentication provider (Google or email/password).
- Scenario responses: Your answers to personality scenarios, including selected options and slider positions.
- Feedback: Any feedback you submit about scenarios (e.g., “too similar,” “offensive,” “great question”).
1.2 Information Generated by the Platform
- Personality trait scores: Computed from your scenario responses. Traits are scored on a 0–1 scale across approximately 45 traits, 10 categories, and 11 themes.
- AI-generated insights: Personality narratives and compatibility analyses generated by sending your aggregated trait scores to the Anthropic Claude API. We send trait scores and category data — not your individual scenario answers — to the AI.
- Compatibility scores: Computed when you compare profiles with another user.
1.3 Information Collected Automatically
- Anonymous identifier: A unique ID stored in an httpOnly cookie, assigned on first visit. This persists across sessions and is linked to your account if you sign up.
- Usage data: Pages visited, scenarios answered, features used, timestamps. Collected via Google Analytics and our own analytics pipeline.
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, screen size, and language preferences.
- Advertising data: Google AdSense may collect information for personalized advertising. See Google's privacy policy for details.
2. How We Use Your Information

3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data in the following circumstances:
- Anthropic (Claude API): We send aggregated personality trait scores (not individual answers) to generate AI insights. Anthropic's data retention policies apply to data sent to their API.
- Google (Firebase, Analytics, AdSense): Authentication data, analytics events, and advertising data are processed by Google services.
- Other users (only when you choose): If you share your profile, create a comparison link, or participate in a challenge, the other party can see your compatibility results and relevant trait comparisons. Your individual scenario answers are never shared with other users.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
4. Data Storage & Security
- Data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, hosted in the United States.
- Anonymous identifiers are stored in httpOnly cookies (not accessible to JavaScript).
- We use Firebase Authentication for account security.
- We do not store passwords — authentication is handled by Firebase (Google OAuth or Firebase email/password).
5. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
The Platform is not intended for children under 13. We collect date of birth to verify age. If a user indicates they are under 13, they are blocked from creating an account and no further data is collected. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. Users under 18 are restricted from accessing mature content categories.
6. Your Choices
- Anonymous use: You can use the Platform without creating an account. Your data is associated with a browser cookie only.
- Account deletion: Contact us at hello@indigou.com to request data deletion.
- Cookie management: You can clear your browser cookies to reset your anonymous identity. Note that this will disconnect you from your anonymous answer history.
- Ad personalization: You can manage ad personalization through Google's ad settings.
7. Data Retention
- Scenario responses and trait profiles are retained as long as your account exists or your anonymous cookie persists.
- Analytics data in BigQuery is retained for up to 24 months.
- AI-generated insights are cached and retained as long as the associated trait profile exists.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
